PRIVACY POLICY

IN SHORT, FOR THE MINDLESS:

We collect almost nothing about you. No account, no name, no email, no location, no tracking. You just tap and swipe to feel a little less overwhelmed, then leave. That's it.

This policy explains how the Out to Lunch iOS app ("we") handles data when you use it. Our philosophy is data minimalism: we don't collect anything that isn't strictly needed for the app to work.

1. What we DON'T collect

  • No registration, login, or profile.
  • No name, email, phone number, or any personally identifying information.
  • No access to your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
  • No location (GPS) data.
  • No tracking cookies, no ad pixels, no behavioral analytics.
  • No push notifications to bother you.
  • We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone — simply because we don't have it.

2. The only data we process: anonymous counters

Out to Lunch keeps a small set of anonymous, shared counters — one per activity — showing how many times everyone has interacted with each one (e.g. "14,502 bubbles popped").

When you tap or swipe, the app only sends a "+1" to the counter for that activity. This number is not tied to you in any way — no user ID, no way to tell which interaction was whose. It's just an anonymous sum meant to give the feeling that "there are plenty of other people out there being mindless right along with me."

To show how many people are around at the same time, the app also holds a temporary session key while it is connected. It contains nothing about you or your device, and it is deleted the moment you disconnect — nothing about your session is kept afterwards.

3. Automatic technical data (Google Firebase)

Out to Lunch uses Google Firebase (Firebase Realtime Database) to sync the anonymous counters. When your device connects to those servers, Google's systems may automatically log some technical data such as your IP address and connection metadata, under Google's own privacy policy.

We do not use this data to identify, profile, or track you. Processing of this technical data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

4. Storage on your device

Everything the app needs — audio, images, and code — ships inside the app itself, so there is nothing to download or cache. We store no personal data on your device. Deleting the app removes everything that came with it.

5. Device permissions

The app may use two device features, both handled locally, with nothing sent anywhere:

  • Vibration (Haptic): light vibration synced with sound when you interact (if your device supports it).
  • Sharing: when you tap share, the app just prepares a fun piece of text for you to share or copy yourself. We can't see where you share it.

6. Children's privacy

Out to Lunch is suitable for all ages and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because no personal data is collected, the app does not target or profile children in any way.

7. Third parties

The only third party involved in operating the app is Google Firebase (Realtime Database). We integrate no social networks, no tracking SDKs, and the current version has no ads.

Note: If we add advertising or any third-party service that collects data in the future, this policy will be clearly updated before that takes effect.

8. Your rights

Because we don't store personal data tied to you, there is almost no data to retrieve or delete on request. Even so, if you have any privacy questions (including rights under Vietnam's Decree 13/2023/NĐ-CP on personal data protection, or GDPR if you are in an applicable region), please contact us using the details below.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy over time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new update date at the top.
